Western Horse Saddle - Guidelines in Buying a
Saddle
If you are looking for the most exciting, fun and
comfortable horse back riding, you need to have the
perfect saddle. What the saddle does, it distributes
your weight evenly right on the back of the horse. It is
a must that the saddle fits just enough for both the
horse and the rider.
There are different varieties of saddles that you can
choose from. It solely depends on what your specific
objective is. However, when it comes to saddle there are
only two common ones that people buy; these are the
Western horse saddle and the English saddle.
Factors that will affect your choices when it comes
to buying a saddle is your riding pleasure, the kind of
jumps you want to achieve and of course the over all
look from the rider down to the horse. In this way, you
can limit your choices into 2-3 and not having to go all
the hassles of looking from hundreds of saddles in one
go.
A very good tip in buying for a Western horse saddle
or any kind of saddle is that you have to make sure that
you have the option to return it back if the saddle does
not fit you and your horse well.
If you are really on the go of taking the challenge
for getting the right saddle then, you should follow
certain guidelines to make your shopping a little bit
easier.
First, you need to measure the back of your horse
when it comes to its width and then match it to the
width of the innermost portion of the saddle. The trick
here, if you can place your three fingers between the
wither and the pummel, then there is a bigger
probability that it does fit. However, this is not the
right way of measuring but this the closest as it goes.
The best way to measure is to put the saddle on test
through putting it at the back of the horse and ride on
it for half an hour or so.
Take note, that the Western horse saddle should fit
right on the back of the horse and the rider will have
no issues on it. If the saddle does not fit or placed
improperly it would result on adding pressure on the
horse's back and will result to excruciating pain.
If the horse will feel the pain and began to react on
it, the next time you put on a Western horse saddle it
will no longer accept it and you have to ride on your
horse bare.
